Comprising over 7,100 islands, the Philippines is home to an abundance of beautiful beaches. With literally hundreds of kilometres of coast line, white and golden sands meet crystal clear waters. Different beaches offer different things for travellers; some are prime party destinations, others are known for water sports, some are famous for their seafood, and others are top destinations for some pure and blissful relaxation. It is a tough call choosing the top eight beaches in the Philippines, but here are some of the best:
Bantayan Island, Cebu
White sands provide ample opportunities for relaxation and soul searching. This heavenly beach is quieter than some of its more famous neighbours, making it ideal for those looking for their own slice of paradise, or couples who are searching for a perfect intimate beach getaway. It offers great swimming in a laid back environment. Within easy reach, you can also enjoy the impressive churches, historical places, and other facilities of Cebu.
Bolobadiangan Island, Concepcion, Iloilo
For complete tropical seclusion, this far from the madding crowd beach offers complete peace and quiet. Some may find the isolation a bit too much, whereas others will revel in the sheer tranquillity and beauty. It offers a rustic and authentic experience in the Philippines.
Subic Beach, Matnog, Sorsogon
The dazzling white sands meet sparkling clear waters. The glorious beach is lined by palm trees gently swaying in the breeze. This beach is so pretty it is almost heart breaking.
It is not the typical features that make this beach so exciting, rather, relentless waves pound the shoreline, and incredible rock formations litter the coast. The intriguing natural wonders make for a really unique landscape. The area is also great for diving, and there are some smaller protected pools where swimming is possible, and safe!
Puraran Beach, Baras, Catanduanes
Surfers will love this excellent beach that faces the raging Pacific Ocean. It is said to have some of the best waves. Golden sands, rock formations, mountain views, and clean waters are extra benefits of this surf paradise.
Diniwid Beach, Boracay, Aklan
Often called the number one island in the country, Boracay attracts visitors from far and wide. Diniwid Beach offers guests to escape to a relatively quieter area, whilst still being close enough to the crowds. It is easy to enjoy crazy parties, all night drinking on the beach, great food, and the hedonistic atmosphere that pervades the powdery sands. When it all gets a bit too much, Diniwid offers a little retreat. The sunsets are also amazing.
Secret Beach, El Nido, Palawan
To access this hidden gem you must swim through a very narrow crevice. The effort is well worth it though – visitors will reach a small area of pristine white sand, surrounded by towering karsts.
Tinagao Island, Galaguas, Camarines Norte
The white sandy beaches are flanked by volcanic rocks, and offer great swimming, sunbathing, and camping.
Of course, with hundreds of beaches, there are many more excellent choices, and you may already have found your own favourite beach hang out in the Philippines. If not though, think about one of these top eight beaches in the Philippines for your next adventure.
